This 1890's craftsman was transformed to match the spirited lifestyle of a young family passionate about art. Creating art, cooking, crafting, puzzeling, while two miniature bull terriers race around the property makes the home feel like a living entity. The bold choinces of this design helped align the house with the clients fizzy energy.
A major inspiration for color use in this project was Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen. The way the wall color evolves from room to room is not only bewitching, but invites exploration through the home.
The weighty architectural geometry of the house was balanced by adding curved upholstered furniture in asymmetrical arrangements for a comfortable, floppable Floppable This made-up word became our go to-to code when describing the combination of choices in each space. The rooms needed to be beautiful and interesting, of course, but were there enough spots to flop and snuggle a dog, read a book, or conspire with a friend? feel, never precious.
Along with sourcing vintage pieces in a mix of design styles and eras, new pieces were created for the house; two steel Taureau chairs flanking the living room console, a powder coated coffee table, and the futurist textile designed for draperies in collaboration with Moonshake Studio.
